A mother is furious tonight, after she says her three-year-old child was left on a school bus alone.
She says no one noticed her child was still on board when the bus left a Head Start in Flemingsburg Tuesday morning.
It was just after 8:30 a.m. when the bus pulled up at the Fleming County Head Start and unloaded the passengers.
The bus driver claims she walked the aisles to make sure no students were still on board, then took the bus to Cheaps Chevrolet for an oil change.
There, one of the managers happened to walk by the bus, and saw 3-year-old Makayla Shields in it.
Makayla's mother, Jennifer Workman, says the manager took the girl into the building, got her into his truck, and took her back to Head Start. She claims the school didn't inform her the girl was missing until she was found on the bus.
The bus monitor told officials she checked the bus and Makayla wasn't on it. The bus driver said she checked when she got to Cheaps, but no one was on the bus.
Both the bus driver and the bus monitor have been suspended without pay, pending an investigation.
Despite being left on the bus, Makayla is said to be doing ok.
