A major winter storm is on the way to the bluegrass state. Local high water issues are possible early Wednesday and that will be followed up by heavy snow and sleet. Significant accumulations are likely Wednesday night and Thursday.
There was a major traffic headache for drivers heading south on Interstate 75 Wednesday morning.
A tractor trailer slammed into a rock wall and burst into flames near the 59 mile marker in Rockcastle County.
Police say the accident happened just after 5:30 Wednesday morning. The truck driver says a car, without any headlights on, tried to pull onto the interstate.
The trucker swerved to miss it, and as a result, crashed into the rock wall.
The driver says he was able to jump out of the cab of the truck before both it and the trailer, carrying cardboard, burst into flames.
The truck was the only vehicle involved and no one else was hurt.
The driver is from St. Louis and escaped with only a few cuts.
As of noon, one southbound lane was back open, but the other two were shut down as crews continued to clean up.
