Emotional Layoffs At Georgetown City Hall

Several former city employees are up in arms after being laid off on Friday morning in Scott County.

Georgetown's mayor, Karen Tingle-Sames, says nine employees lost their jobs.

The mayor says the cuts were mostly to clerical and custodial positions. That move is expected to save the city hundreds of thousands of dollars.

27 NEWSFIRST has learned that those let go spoke to city commissioners on Friday.

Georgetown has been in some financial trouble lately because of falling tax revenues.
