Nistle's Crunch rallied to overtake two leaders inside the sixteenth pole and beat 2-1 favorite Seaspeak to win Sunday's Grade III $112,900 Commonwealth Turf race for 3-year-olds at Churchill Downs.
Nistle's Crunch won by a half length and covered the 1 1/16 miles on the firm Matt Winn Turf Course in 1:44.48. The win was worth $66,500.
Jockey Robby Albarado stayed in midpack and saved ground until the head of the stretch. Trained by Ken McPeek, Nistle's Crunch got clear sailing at the 16th pole and passed Seaspeak and Jimmy Simms for the victory.
Nistle's Crunch returned $17.20, $6.60 and $4.40. Seaspeak, ridden by Kent Desormeaux, returned $4.40 and $3, finishing ahead of Jimmy Simms, who paid $4.60 to show.
