Recanvass Sought In Mayor's Race

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - A challenger in last week's mayor's race in
Paducah has filed his request seeking a recanvass after losing by
48 votes to incumbent Bill Paxton.

Robert Coleman, who's served on the city commission for 31
years, says he also still plans to file a request for a recount.
That deadline is Friday.

McCracken County will pay for the recanvass, which is to take
place on Thursday morning. But Coleman will be responsible for
paying for the recount, which is a more detailed investigation.

Coleman told The Paducah Sun he received calls after Election
Day from voters who told him that county residents had voted in the
mayor's race in precincts that include both city and county voters.

County Clerk Jeff Jerrell told the newspaper no one has called
his office or contacted him to report such activity.
