General showers will be the main action over the next few hours. A few could remain on the strong to severe side in eastern parts of Kentucky.
The Lexington Fayette Urban County Government has a new storm water fee that will cost most people a little more than $4 a month, but others could pay more.
The mayor talked about the new charge Thursday morning.
Every homeowner, urban and rural, will pay the same, $4.16 a month. Businesses and churches will pay considerably more depending on their size.
Mayor Jim Newberry said he wished such a fee were not necessary, especially in these tough economic times. But he says it is imperative if Lexington is to come into compliance with the federal clean water act and make up for years and years of neglect.
The mayor said many other cities around the country charge higher storm water fees.
