Man Found Dead Outside Lexington Business

An autopsy report released Monday sheds light onto what killed a Lexington man over the weekend.

Police say someone dropping off a car at the Sturgill Car Care Center, on Newtown Pike, found 41-year-old Ernest Mackto's body around 2 Sunday afternoon in the parking lot.

Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn says Mackto, of Lexington, had a wound to the back of his head, and had likely been laying outside all night.

Initially, officials thought his death was a homicide, but now say otherwise.

An autopsy says a wound to the back of Matko's head came from a fight Saturday night, and had nothing to do with his death. Their preliminary autopsy findings indicate that hypothermia had something to do with his death. Toxicology reports are still pending.

The Red Cross is helping Mackto's son, who's serving in the military, return home for his father's funeral. Funeral arrangements are still pending.
