A teacher's aide and assistant coach is accused of sending explicit text messages to students.
Brandon Rousey of Richmond was supposed to be coaching and teaching students at Madison Middle School, but police say he was text messaging several girls, trying to convince at least one student to engage in sexual actiivty.
The 23-year old was arrested Monday afternoon. Police were investigating complaints from several parents who said a school employee was sending sexual text messages to their daughters.
Police say only one victim, a 13-year old girl, has come forward so far, but they expect more students could come forward. Police say there is not evidence of any sexual contact.
Rousey was employed at EKU through the AmeriCorps job placement program. He was a teachers aide and assistant football coach.
The Madison County Schools superintendent sent a letter to the media alerting them about the situation and maintained that students' safety is the school system's priority.
"I would like to be clear that the safety and well-being of each of our students is a paramount responsibility that we take very seriously," Superintendent Thomas Floyd wrote in the letter.
Rousey was arrested, but bonded out of jail Tuesday afternoon.
