Three investigators with the state Fire Marshal's Office spent much of the day on Thursday on the scene of a massive barn fire that killed dozens of horses at a stable in western Kentucky.

28 horses were trapped inside the barn at Riverside Downs in Henderson.

Only three horses were able to escape the intense flames.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A fire in January at the same stable killed six horses.

Riverside Downs is a former racetrack and now serves as a stable for race horses.
