A grand jury has indicted a jail escapee for murder.
The Morgan County grand jury returned the indictment on Monday morning against Robin Maple.
It charges him with capitol murder and kidnapping.
Police say maple showed up at his ex-girlfriend's house earlier this month, took Melissa Patrick against her will and shot and killed her.
Patrick's step-father shot Maple at the scene, but the grand jury did not indict him on any charges.
Maple escaped from the Montgomery county jail in October. He was awaiting trial for a stand-off with police that started after police say he kidnapped his young son.
