Louisville police say they believe an ex-convict who died in 2002 is responsible for the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl 25 years ago.

Police Maj. Barry Wilkerson named Greg Louis Oakley Jr. as the lone suspect in the disappearance of Ann Gotlib. Wilkerson says police believe the girl was killed with an intentional drug overdose.

But no remains have ever been found and the disappearance has been a mystery in Louisville for more than two decades.

At a news conference Thursday police said interviews, including with a former cell-mate of Oakley's, point to him as the person responsible for Ann's disappearance. Oakley died in Alabama in
2002.

The missing girl was last seen on June 1, 1983 at Bashford Manor Mall near her home in suburban Louisville. Her bike was found leaning against a brick pillar at the busy shopping center.
