PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Officials say a recount of the vote tally in Paducah's mayoral election should be completed on Thursday.
Commissioner Robert Coleman requested the recount after a re-canvass confirmed that incumbent Mayor Bill Paxton won by 48 votes.
The Paducah Sun reports that the recount is being conducted by Harp Enterprises of Lexington. McCracken County Clerk Jeff Jerrell says the recount will take about one day.
Coleman contested the results in a lawsuit. A judge ruled that the recount should be completed before Dec. 30, the day of a hearing on the suit.
The re-canvass confirmed the election night results of 5,079 for Paxton and 5,031 for Coleman.
