A storm complex will affect our region again today. Expect scattered storms to pick up during the afternoon hours. Damaging winds, flooding and lightning are the main concerns as these storms roll through.
A head-on collision between a pick-up truck and a passenger car resulted in two deaths Wednesday afternoon in Nicholas County.
Kentucky State Police say 18-year-old Brittany Ruble and 23-year-old Timothy Mitchell died in the head-on collision. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, 63-year-old Kenneth Wallace, is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Residents who live near the scene of the crash say they tried to help the victims but there was nothing they could do. Both of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
Ruble was a senior at Nicholas County High School. Grief counselors are expected to be on hand at the school on Thursday.
