WASHINGTON (AP) - It's no big secret former Senator Tom Daschle
will have a role in President-elect Barack Obama's administration.
What could be surprising is the scope of it. Today Obama will
formally introduce Daschle as his pick for Health and Human
Services secretary, but he'll also run the new White House Office
of Health Reform.
One Democratic official says Daschle will be "the White House's
voice" on the issue.
Democrats also say Obama will announce his picks for certain
environmental positions in the coming weeks. They include Steven
Chu for energy secretary, Lisa Jackson for EPA administrator, and
Carol Browner as his newly created energy "czar."
Obama still hasn't picked someone to run the Interior
Department, though some names have surfaced.
