LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky Court of Appeals panel is
scheduled to hear arguments Friday in the state's attempt to seize
control of more than 140 online casinos.
Franklin County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wingate has ruled
previously that he would not dismiss the state's lawsuit seeking to
block Kentuckians' access to more than 140 online casinos. Wingate
had ruled that he would hold a forfeiture hearing last month
regarding some of the Internet's most popular gambling Web sites.
Kentucky already allows gambling on horse racing and bingo, and
has a state lottery.
Online casino proponents appealed Wingate's ruling to the Court
of Appeals, and a stay has been in effect. Oral arguments in the
appeal are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
