A 7-year-old Danville girl is in serious condition at U.K. Hospital after she was hit by a pickup truck Thursday night.
Police say Rayvn McKitric was hit by the truck as she was trying to cross the street in front of her house on Wilderness Road.
McKitric's mother tells 27 NewsFirst she was crossing the street with her brother to take out the trash. According to the police report, a witness says McKitric ran in front of the truck and it didn't have time to stop.
Danville police arrested the truck's driver after finding an open container of beer inside the truck. They say he had been drinking and driving.
Jerry Curtis is charged with DUI and having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. He is also charged with having no insurance. Police expect more charges to be filed against him when the results of his blood alcohol level come back, and depending on the severity of McKintric's injuries.
He bonded out of jail earlier today.
