A motorist was struck and killed on I-75 while attempting to exit a vehicle following an accident.
Kentucky State Police say a red sedan was involved in an accident on northbound I-75. The sedan came to rest in the fast lane and the driver reportedly attempted to exit the vehicle. At that time, the vehicle was struck by another northbound vehicle. The impact of the crash sent the driver of the red sedan into the southbound lanes where she was fatally injured.
Investigators say they have heard a variety of witness accounts and could be looking for another vehicle involved in the initial accident. The driver of the vehicle involved in the second accident was transported to UK for treatment.
The accident resulted in the closure of both north and southbound lanes of I-75 between exits 90 and 95 for several hours.
The identity of the victim is being held pending notification of next of kin.
