Animal Cruelty Suspect Due In Court

The results of a mental evaluation are due back Monday on a Pulaski County man who allegedly cut off his puppy's tail and ears.

Michael Salyers of Science Hill is facing animal cruelty charges.

In a jail house interview, Salyers told 27 NEWSFIRST. He wanted to change the way his puppy looked, so he cut off its tail and ears.

The puppy survived. A veterinarian is caring for it.

The judge will also have to decide what happens next with the puppy.
