Ice, Sleet Reported In Western Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - State officials say freezing rain and sleet have moved into western Kentucky and have created a thin layer of ice on some roads.

Kentucky State Police dispatcher John Reynolds says there were 20 to 30 weather-related wrecks Tuesday morning, but none were serious. Reynolds says most were cars sliding off the road.

The National Weather Service in Paducah issued a freezing rain advisory Tuesday morning. The weather service says freezing rain is
moving north and east and may cause problems with ice until the temperature moves above freezing in the early afternoon.

Kentucky Highways Department spokesman Keith Todd says Graves,
Hickman and Fulton counties were among the hardest hit. Todd says
crews are treating roads in those areas.
