Police Search For Driver In Pedestrian Death

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police are looking for the driver of a car that left the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident in Pike County.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported 62-year-old James Chapman of McVeigh was struck as he walked along U.S. 119 near Belfry about 7 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers said Chapman - wearing dark-colored clothing - was first struck by a Jeep Cherokee driven by Crystal Blair of Canada, Ky. Police said Chapman was then run over by a light-colored vehicle that drove away.

Pike County Coroner Mike Mall pronounced Chapman dead at the scene.
