Armed Man Breaks Into Lexington Home

By  |

Lexington resident Dereck Oldham says he wasn't sure what was going on Monday morning just before 10:00.

Oldham says he was awoken to loud banging at his front door. By the time he realized what was going on, an armed man had kicked in the front door of the home on Stillwell Avenue and came into the home. Oldham came face-to-face with him just outside of his bedroom.

"I yelled, 'Hey!' and he took off," Oldham said.

Oldham says he has two other roommates who were not home at the time. He says he can't think of any reason why someone would break into the home.

Oldham described the suspect as a black or Hispanic male standing about 6'1" tall, wearing a red and white hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, brown gloves and a white mask. Oldham also said he had a small automatic handgun.

Lexington police on scene confiscated drug paraphernalia from the home but are not sure if that was motive for the invasion.
