Police Release Encouraging News About Highway Deaths

Police across Kentucky will be hitting the roads hard this New Year's Eve, making sure you safely get where you're going.

News of stepped-up enforcement comes as police release some encouraging news about state roads.

47 fewer people died on roads in this state in 2008 than they did last year.

Police attribute the decrease to the state's tougher seat belt law and the high gas prices we saw for much of the year that kept people from driving as much.
