The slick roads caused plenty of problems for drivers late Wednesday and early Thursday morning for drivers along I-75 north of Lexington.

One of the wrecks even involved a Central Kentucky police chief.

Police in Scott County say Sadieville Police Chief Jerry Powell hit an icy patch on I-75, losing control of his vehicle near the Sadieville exit.

Powell suffered some shoulder pain and went to Georgetown Community Hospital.

He is now back home.

Minutes after that accident, there was another crash as a semi driver lost control of his rig, running right into the wall.

Another tractor trailer got stuck when the driver tried to make it on an on-ramp onto I-75 in Grant County.

No serious injuries were reported.

I agree 100% with tired below. Time after time after time so far this winter the roads have been untouched hours after the snow and ice events start. It was snowing heavily at 3, then again at 6 last evening. If salt were applied then, the problems late last night and overnight would have been avoided. You can't tell me it takes 6 hours to get a salt truck on the roads. This has become a public safety issue, and now my auto insurance will go up because of at least 4 episodes this winter with "dozens" of accidents. Someone is asleep at the wheel at the transportations department and people have even lost their lives due to someone's incompetence. Before you blame speedy drivers, 1 police chief is hospitalized today and another lost his life just before Christmas. There have been points this year that 5 mph is impossible due to the ice, and there is nothing you can do about it until the salt arrives. I saw 7 salt trucks at Speedway in G-town Tuesday when it was 35 and raining out.

I just don't understand why none of these cities/counties around here won't salt or sand these roads!! It snowed the entire day yesterday and I did not see one salt truck out. My drive home is trecherous with hills and curves and it makes me so unhappy to live where city or county officials do not see a point of keeping these roads clean.
