Shelters In Lexington See Record Numbers

Temperatures have tumbled into the teens, forcing many people indoors.

Shelters in Lexington are bursting at the seams with people, looking for a place to get in out of the cold.

Lexington's Hope Center had 278 people overnight Wednesday, the highest number in the shelter's history.

In fact, there were so many in need, that backup shelters at two Lexington churches opened to handle the overflow.

The Catholic Action Center and the Salvation Army are also seeing a big influx of people as arctic air sits over the bluegrass.
