Our winter storm is shattering records. 17.1" of snow fell in Lexington and that's the most ever recorded during a two day snowstorm. We've had 32.1" of snow in the last 17 days.
First responders were very busy Sunday morning as icy roadways caused several accidents.
Scott County Deputy Sheriff was urging motorists to stay home if they didn't need to be out. He said there were numerous accidents in his county that had resources stretched thin.
Meantime, Versailles police officer Pat Melton advised motorists to use caution on roads that can become very slick without warning. He says drivers need to slow down and use "common sense." He also recommends keeping an emergency kit in your car should you become stranded in winter weather. The kit should have blankets, candles, matches and water along with other items that you think you might need if you find yourself waiting for help.
