Lexington just got a little more walker friendly. Wednesday morning, the city showed off new walking paths downtown where walkers get a view from the sky.
The American Heart Association kicked off their national "Start" campaign here in Lexington.
The initiative encourages exercise in the workplace and officials are hopeful people working downtown will use the existing skywalks to take a break and exercise. The have marked paths both on the skywalk and on the sidewalks.
According to American Heart Association officials, a sedentary lifestyle now surpasses smoking as the leading cause of heart disease.
The University of Kentucky, The Downtown Lexington Corporation and the Webb Companies all partnered with The American Heart Association to make the walking paths possible.
