The Oscar nominations are out and among them, a local man up for a top award.
Lexington native Michael Shannon is a nominee for best supporting actor for his role in Revolutionary Road.
Shannon attended Henry Clay High School and Tates Creek Jr. High and his mother still lives here.
Shannon recently appeared on the afternoon show here on 27 NEWSFIRST and talked about his memories of his hometown.
"This is where I actually got started in acting in middle school," Shannon said, " I think I would like to come back here when I get to a point in my career when Ii can do that."
Shannon is part of an all star cast in Revolutionary Road, a cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet and Kathy Bates.
"When you're actually working with them, they're just really hard working folks, and they're really good at what they do, and that's always exciting to work with people like that," Shannon said.
"I play a character named John Givings who is a mathematics genius who has, I guess, gone over the edge. He's had a nervous breakdown, and he's come home to live with his mother," Shannon added.
Revolutionary Road opens Friday nationwide.
The 81st Oscars will be presented Feb. 22 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
