The winter weather that's continuing to fall across the state is creating power outages.
Accumulating ice has caused tree branches to snap off and take down power lines. More than 10,000 Kentucky Utilties customers were without power early Wednesday morning in Lexington.
Blue Grass Energy has activated its emergency response plan.
It has more than 23,000 customers in the dark. Officials say their Madison County customers were hardest hit.
Statewide, Kentucky Utilities is reporting 100,000 without power as of Wednesday morning. Most of those are in western Kentucky.
10,000 customers of Owen Electric in Northern Kentucky are without power.
All power companies are stressing people stay away from downed power lines and call your utility company if you see a problem.
Workers say the weather will have to let up before everyone's power can be restored.
