Shelters Open Throughout Kentucky
Several counties have opened emergency shelters for people coping with power outages brought on by the winter storm. See a list of shelters across Central Kentucky.

With thousands still without power, several counties have opened shelters for people needing a warm place to stay.

Fayette County
Paul Laurence Dunbar High School (All Night)
Castlewood Community Center 201 Castlewood Dr. (11am - 9pm)
Dunbar Community Center 545 N. Upper St. (11am - 9pm)
Kenwick, 313 Owsley Ave. (11am - 9pm)

The Fayette Co. Sherriff's Office will provide transportaion to emergency personal to and from their workplace, those who need transportation to a shelter, and those in need of essential medications. The Sheriff's Office will also check on those in need.
Call LexCall 3-1-1 or 425-2255 until 9 p.m.
After 9 p.m. call the Emergency Operations Center at 258-3970.

People coming to the shelter are asked to bring blankets and pillows.

Franklin County
Capital City Christian Church on Versailles Road (502-223-1795)
Open 24 hrs.
Those staying at the shelter need to bring any needed medication, feeding formulas and diapers for infants, a pillow and blanket for each family member, a cot or air mattress, a change of clothing and books or simple toys for children.

First Christian Church on Ann St. (Friday from 9:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.)
St Paul Methodist Church on Louisville Road (Friday from 9:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.)

People will need to bring their own blanket and pillow.

We need a way of finding out where help is available, without the use of electricity, phone and possibly transportation, so many people are without any of these and no help is comming door to door out here, where can families seek refuge fron the freezing temps? please send help soon before anymore perish out here. TY
