Energy Companies Prioritizing Areas To Restore Power

Over 30,000 Blue Grass Energy members are still without power. Power restoration for emergency management and medical facilities is a priority. They will also work on sub-stations that will restore power to large numbers of individuals.

Cathryn Gibson, Vice President of Member Services for Blue Grass Energy, says, "There's a defined way to restore power and it's not about choosing one neighborhood over another."

Kentucky Utilities have also developed a general prioritization list for restoring power. They will focus on restoring power to hospitals and health facilities, followed by public safety facilities and nursing homes. Finally, residential customers will have their power restored.

KU estimates another 7-10 days for complete restoration in the LG&E's service area.
