Daughter Saves Parents In Fire

The Investigation continues into the cause of a house fire that destroyed a home in Lee County. The fire broke out at a two-story house near Beattyville.

21-year-old Ashly Hogan awoke to the fire in the middle of the night. She managed to get out of her upstairs bedroom to the top of the home's roof. She thought to bring her cell phone so she could call her parents in a downstairs bedroom and alert them to the fire.

"When I heard her screaming the house was on fire on the phone, my feet hit the floor," says Allen Hogan. The father and mother escaped the flames to find another problem awaiting them.

"He said jump and I didn't wait I just jumped," said Ashly Hogan. She was still trapped on top of the rooftop with the house burning beneath her. Her father held out his arms, told her to jump, and then braced her fall.

The mother, Sandra Hogan, says her son Brandon was staying with his eldest sister at the time and, had he been there, would not have survived the fire because of the location of his bedroom in the house.

The home is destroyed, but the Hogan family wishes to thank members of the community for their outpouring of support in this very difficult situation.
