SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - South Korean officials say North Korea
appears to be preparing to test-fire a ballistic missile that could
be capable of reaching the western U.S.
South Korean intelligence has spotted a train carrying a long,
cylinder-shaped object, thought to be a long-range missile, to a
new missile launch site on North Korea's west coast.
The report says the preparations could be completed in a month
or two. But intelligence officials don't believe North Korea has
the technology to develop a nuclear warhead light enough to be
mounted on a missile.
Analysts say reports that Pyongyang is preparing a missile test
to reflect the communist regime's efforts to attract President
Barack Obama's attention as he formulates his North Korea policy.
