A major winter storm is on the way to the bluegrass state. Local high water issues are possible early Wednesday and that will be followed up by heavy snow and sleet. Significant accumulations are likely Wednesday night and Thursday.
Some promising news for thousands of residents across the state.
Kentucky Utilities reports it has restored power to almost 10,000 customers Tuesday leaving 53,000 customers still without power. That's number is down from 62,000.
KU officials report that Fayette Co. still has 3,800 customers in the dark, that's down from 4,650.
In Madison County there are 1,250 customers without power, down from 2,000. In Woodford County 850 customers are still in the dark, that's down from 900 customers.
Scott county is reporting 250 outages, down from 400. Bourbon county is down to 50 outages, down from 150.
Clark County has 250 customers in the dark, that number is down from 300 customers. And in Jessamine County there are 150 customers reportedly without power, down from 200.
KU officials say they are down to having 53 ,000 customers with power outages statewide, most of them West of I-65. That number is down from 62,000.
