LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Former Kentucky Gov. John Y. Brown Jr.
and his ex-wife, former Miss America Phyllis George, are on a list
of several thousand clients of disgraced New York financial wizard
The 162-page list was made public in a court filing in U.S.
Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan.
The Courier-Journal reported Thuresday that Brown, a Democrat
who served from 1979 to 1983, said in a telephone interview that he
pulled all his money out of Madoff's fund about a decade ago. He
said his former wife also removed her funds.
Brown said he met personally with Madoff, but declined to say
how much money was involved, except to say it was more than
George, who was the 1971 Miss America, did not return a call to
the newspaper seeking comment.
In all, at least nine people with Kentucky addresses appear on
the list of Madoff customers.
