Pike County Couple Records High Seas Rescue

A Kentucky couple takes a detour while on a Caribbean vacation.

Their cruise ship, was involved in a high seas rescue.

The Carnival Glory made a sudden stop during a day at sea in the western Caribbean. Its captain had spotted something about a mile away.

The Collins family, from Pike County, caught the entire rescue on video.

About nine refugees from Cuba were on a make-shift raft, made of two logs and a tarp. They had been lost at sea for about ten days.

The Carnival ship sent out a rescue boat with food and water to help until the coast guard arrived.

The unexpected stop took the cruise three hours off course, but the folks from Pike County say, saving lives made it worth every minute.
