CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. (AP) - A Roman Catholic college in northern Kentucky is seeking to make room for the masses.
Thomas More College is trying to raise $3.5 million for a free-standing chapel in the middle of it's campus to replace a 110-person chapel squeezed into the student union.
College president Sister Margaret Stallmeyer told The Kentucky Enquirer that the 300-plus seat facility would be used to fit the masses into Masses on campus.
Fund-raising began with a $500,000 commitment from the Diocese of Covington. Several parishes around northern Kentucky have donated as well, combining for more than $250,000. Early private donors have pushed the total funds raised to nearly $1 million.
