Rescue Crews Continue To Search For Missing Mom

By  |

Search efforts have been stepped up in the case of a missing mother who police say hasn't been seen since mid-January.

Search crews from the Menifee County Sheriff's Department and local firefighters are taking to the sky hoping to find a clue to where Nicole Van Zant could be.

The 27 year old was last seen at a Dollar General Store in Frenchburg.

Police say witnesses told them they saw Van Zant in a car, arguing with a male friend. Yet police say that person claims he dropped off Van Zant and hasn't seen her since.

Police agencies from several counties along with volunteers from the community, family and friends have all come together in search for her. Police say they are focusing their search around the Red River Gorge area, but say the recent winter storm has made it difficult to search for her.

At this point authorities say they have not ruled out foul play in her disappearance.

Currently the case is a missing persons case, not a criminal investigation.

Search and Rescue crews say they plan to be back out searching all week.
