City Opens New Landfill To Help With Storm Cleanup

The winter storm of 2009 caused major damage across the state that left tons of broken branches and debris littering homes and streets.

Here in Lexington city officials are helping home owners get rid of what the storm destroyed. The city has opened a new landfill; the old garbage dump on Old Frankfort Pike is now taking only tree debris.

The city says they were overwhelmed by the sheer volume of all the storm refuse.

The dump is open from seven to four daily.
