Kentuckians Brace For More Outages Caused By Strong Winds

State emergency management officials are warning Kentuckians to be prepared for severe weather Wednesday.

In Lexington, wind gusts up to 55 miles per hour are expected.

With trees and limbs already weak from the ice storm, there could be more damage.

Lexington's Division of Emergency Management is also warning people to be prepared for outages and severe weather.

McCreary County Schools even decided to dismiss at one on Wednesday, worried what the winds could mean for school buses.

Officials also want people to use caution when using generators if they lose power. If you use a generator, you should place it outside 25 feet away from a structure.

Officials say the January ice storm killed 33 people in Kentucky.

About 34,000 utility customers in Kentucky remain without power from the storm.
