BAGHDAD (AP) - There's been another deadly bombing attack
against Shiite pilgrims in Iraq. Officials say 35 people were
killed and more than 60 others were injured in an attack today by a
female suicide bomber south of Baghdad.
A police official says the bomber set off her explosives among
pilgrims walking to the holy city of Karbala.
Medical officials in nearby hospitals say most of the dead and
wounded were women and children.
It's the third straight day of deadly bombings against Shiite
The attacks appear to be part of a campaign by Sunni extremists
to reignite the sectarian conflict that nearly plunged Iraq into
full-scale civil war two years ago.
Attacks Wednesday and yesterday killed at least 20 people and
wounded more than 90 others.
