Another Case of E. coli Reported in Kentucky

Posted: Wed 5:34 PM, Sep 20, 2006

Another person has been diagnosed with a case of E. coli in Kentucky, bringing the total to at least seven in the state and more than 130 nationally.
The Food and Drug Administration has linked a California company's fresh spinach to the outbreak. Investigators are working to pinpoint the source of the bacteria.
Gwenda Bond, spokeswoman for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, said the new case involved a male teenager from
Kenton County, across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. Bond said the
teen received outpatient medical treatment.
Of the Kentucky cases, only an Oldham County woman remained
hospitalized, Bond said. Other E. coli cases in Kentucky involved
residents of Oldham, Hopkins, Jefferson and McCracken counties.
