Construction Worker Ruptures Gas Line Snarling Traffic For Hours

Officials with Columbia Gas say a construction worker ruptured a gas pipe Tuesday afternoon, snarling traffic for hours.

It happened on Harrodsburg Road where the outbound lane was shutdown for much of the evening, causing traffic to be diverted.

Officials with Columbia Gas tell us an electrical contractor putting in a utility pole along Harrodsburg Road hit a 4 inch pressure line. Crews on the scene are trying to cape it, then repair it.

Officials say the road is being re-opened and traffic should be back to normal.

Lexington Police tell 27NEWSFIRST they had to divert traffic to Arrowhead Road, which eventually lead drivers to Fort Harrods Road.
