Armed Robbery Near U.K. Campus

University of Kentucky officials have issued a crime bulletin after an armed man held up a sandwich shop near campus late Tuesday night.

Workers say the suspect came into Pita Pit on South Limestone around 11:30 p.m., pulled out a gun then grabbed cash from the register.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 50's or early 60's standing 5'6" to 5'8".

He was wearing blue jeans and a gray hooded sweat shirt, which could possibly have a logo for West Jessamine softball on it.

Lexington Police are looking to the possibility that this robber has hit before.

Investigator's say the man who robbed the Pita Pit has a similar description to a man who held up a Papa John's location on Nicholasville Road over the weekend.

In the Papa John's robbery, a shot was fired.
