Police Step Up Patrols Around School

School officials and police aren't taking any chances after a man tried to abduct a middle school student in Georgetown.

13-year-old Katelynn King was attacked as she walked to Georgetown Middle School on Wednesday morning.

She was able to fight the man off and he left the scene in a tan or gold mid-90's Buick sedan with a busted out driver's side tail light.

On Thursday, police stepped up patrols in the area, especially during times when students were coming and going.

Officers have met with school leaders and have also followed up on leads from other students who say they may have seen the man police are searching for.

Teachers are reminding students about stranger danger and what to do if they are placed in a similar situation.

School leaders emailed parents as soon as the incident happened Wednesday. On Thursday, they are sending home letters with a more detailed description and safety information.

If you recognize the man in the sketch, call Georgetown Police at 502-863-7820.
