Violent Robbery Caught On Tape

For the first time, we're seeing pictures of the man who held up a Lexington restaurant.

Police say the man held up the Papa John's on Nicholasville Road on Valentine's Day. Police say he demanded the money in the safe and fired a shot when the employee told him they couldn't open it.

He got away with the cash in the register.

The robber is described as being in his 40s or 50s, standing about 5'7" with reddish-blonde hair and a beard.

Earlier this week, police say a man with a similar description held up the Pita Pit restaurant near the UK campus.

Anyone with information relating to this investigation is asked to please contact the Personal Crimes Section at (859) 258-3700 or Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at (859) 253-2020.
