Rounds of showers and thunderstorms could cause issues across the region Saturday. Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes will be possible.
It should have been one of the happiest days of their lives, instead a Southern Kentucky family is left without a place to call home.
A McCreary County family was at the hospital after the birth of their first child when flames ripped through their house on Copper Creek Road near the Wayne County line.
"We lost everything, everything," said Ive Phillips, the child's mother.
The fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, just seven hours after the Phillips welcomed George Christopher Phillips into their world.
"He's what's keeping us going right now. I don't know what we would do, if it weren't for him," said the child's father, Christopher Phillips.
While authorities haven't determined the official cause of the fire, the family believes it started in a heater in the bathroom.
"We built the home ourselves, and we will do it again," said Christopher Phillips.
The Phillips say they plan to stay with family until they can find a more permanent place to stay.
The family did not have insurance and lost everything in the fire, including all of the baby's belongings.
A fund has been set up in the family's name.
