Cheapside Park To Become New Home For The Lexington Farmer's Market

By  |

A new streetscape vision for downtown Lexington includes turning Cheapside Park into a permanent home for the Lexington Farmer's Market.

The plan for the area consists of constructing a glass pavilion which will house the market and will be ordained with curb-side rain gardens.
Additional vending space will also be available.

It will stretch from Short to Main streets. The new pavilion will also be used for Thursday Night Live, art fairs, and other cultural events.

Mayor Jim Newberry says, "These are exciting plans that will transform our downtown."

Mayor Newberry hopes that this new design will prompt more surrounding residents to take advantage of what downtown has to offer. The project is expected to be completed by 2010.
