3 Hurt When Stairs Collapsed In Louisville Building

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Two Louisville city officials have been injured, one of them critically, after falling 30 feet when a staircase collapsed in an aging downtown building.

Authorities said Downtown Development Corp. Director Alan DeLisle and three others were touring the building Tuesday morning when stairs to the third floor collapsed.

DeLisle was in serious condition at a hospital while his deputy, Patti Clare, was in critical condition. The building's owner was in stable condition.

The three fell all the way to the first floor when the stairs collapsed. A woman also had to be rescued from the third floor but was not hurt.
