Heavy rain will be the issue through the first half of the day. Significant snow & sleet will be the call during the afternoon through tomorrow. Look for almost impassable travel in some spots tomorrow.
NEWPORT, Ky. (AP) - A northern Kentucky woman charged with murdering her husband has testified that she killed him in self-defense.
Cheryl McCafferty took the stand Tuesday and said she shot her husband "to save my life, to save my kids' lives."
The Kentucky Enquirer reports on its Web site that McCafferty said her husband, Robert McCafferty, threatened to kill their two children if she didn't commit suicide.
Prosecutors contend McCafferty killed her husband on June 25, 2007, to hide the fact that she was stealing money from him and to get out of an unhappy marriage.
Campbell County Commonwealth's Attorney Michelle Snodgrass has argued that Robert McCafferty was asleep during the shooting to debunk claims that the defendant shot him in self-defense.
