Gun Found Outside Elementary School

A gun found at an eastern Kentucky elementary school has sparked concern for parents.

The rusty gun was found in a pile of mulch being used to build a playground at Sand Gap Elementary in Jackson County.

Workers found the gun buried in the mulch on Wednesday and say they think it had been there for some time.

Sheriff's deputies took the gun from the school and are investigating.

A note was sent home with students on Thursday, letting parents know what happened.
